Created, lived, and retold, right here in Jones Valley, Birmingham.

a kitchen in the making…

We’ve been hacking and sanding and sawing away at our Magic City Nest since mid-February. We’ve come a long way and sorry I haven’t posted more pictures of our progress. (I’ve been a little busy…)

Here’s a teaser! I’ll work on getting some more pics posted soon.

Ode to the Kitchen

Once upon a time there were gloriously gloomy gray cabinets, mis-match tile and lackluster walls…

The best (existing) features were the windows and overhead cabinets and vent hood…

And so we gutted it. (Correction: Boss gutted it while yours truly was away working.) And I thought the gray cabinets were nasty…

And then there was paint…we kept it neutral in preparation for our beloved (fiery orange) Le Creuset collection.

Cabinets (that Boss assembled by hand) came next, along with butcherblock countertops. What you don’t see yet are my carefully-selected Anthropologie hardware that are just SO perfect for our cozy little bungalow.

And that is where I’ll leave you for now. Obviously, there’s a bit more work to be done, but as I dream of opening that front door, turning on some Miles Davis, corking a bottle of Sonoma red and welcoming you all in to our new (to us) nest, well…I know that day is getting closer…
