Created, lived, and retold, right here in Jones Valley, Birmingham.

Friday Photo: Words With a View

Last night I had the pleasure of watching the sun set over Jones Valley from the 4th floor of the downntown branch of the Birmingham Public Library. To boot, I met a handful of new friends, had a glass of bubbly with an earful of live jazz, and enjoyed one (okay, two) cookies from MIX.

It was a good night.

And in case you haven’t considered the City’s collection of words lately, let me offer a reminder that our local library system (all 19 locations) is really quite special. I encourage you to show some love on your own neighborhood library soon and, to win some extra good karma for the weekend, take a few seconds to help Smithfield Library win $5,000 in a national contest, sponsored by LEGO. Here’s the jump. (Please share with friends/family/co-workers. Voting ends October 1. Let’s make something great happen, shall we?)

Friday is finally here, and I’m looking forward to the lovely weather ahead. Happy weekend, all!
