There’s quite a lot brewing over in Avondale these days. Have you felt it? We sure have.
Let’s see…
We’ve been enjoying every inch of the newly renovated Avondale Park, complete with an iron-cast Miss Fancy welcoming both young and old, right at the front gate, and we’re proud to be just a mile or so away from Birmingham’s newest brewery, named appropriately after the neighborhood in which it so hopes to resuscitate and donning an homage to the erstwhile maiden of Avondale within its logo.
Avondale Brewery is not only cranking out delicious craft brews (I speak from personal experience, I’ll have you know), they are also getting creative with ideas that could help spur further development within this little gem of a neighborhood that sits just beyond the shadows of downtown and Lakeview and is looked at as one of three burgeoning artists’ enclaves within city limits.
Here’s the deal – Avondale Brewery is teaming with Main Street Birmingham to offer six months of *free* rent in the building just across the street from the (very, *very* well restored) beer factory. (The building up for grabs would have been the tasting room for the Spring Street Saison, the Battlefield Pale Ale, and other ridiculously tasty pours, although the law changed (thank heavens/it’s about time) and our friends at Avondale Brewery were able to set up shop in the brewery itself.)
There’s no catch to this free rent deal, I don’t believe, other than it must include food, the arts or some other type of retail that will drive foot traffic to the area. And let me just tell you – my feet are already promised to whomever comes up with the winning idea.
Maybe it’s you, Mr./Mrs. budding Birmingham entrepreneur…
Simply enter here for your chance to become the next thriving business in Avondale, the next hotspot for hipsters and city dwellers and the creatively inclined. You have until the end of February to take a stab at it, but I suggest you don’t delay and you share your winning idea ASAP.
I can’t wait to taste what’s next for Avondale…
