Created, lived, and retold, right here in Jones Valley, Birmingham.

talking about BIRMINGHAM

Last night our house filled with voices and faces from around the Magic City as we embarked on a casual conversation about Birmingham-native Paul Hemphill’s Leaving Birmingham.

It was a small gathering, but I so enjoyed hearing from everyone as we shared our hopes, visions, fears, apprehensions and common stories about this great City.  We discussed Woodlawn and its once-pulsing mix of families and businesses and churches and lfiestyle.  We talked heavily on education and positive dialogue and transportation.  We remembered characters of another time, their impact, their legacies.  Eight strangers sat in my living room and we enjoyed a delicious conversation that, I hope, will continue to grow.

Look for another book assignment soon.  We’ll gather again after the holidays… If you love this City then you don’t want to miss the discussion!

To all of those our there in the blog-o-sphere… We at historic Woodrow Hall would love to invite this group to meet at one of the oldest buildings in NE Birmingham that has just been restored. Set the date and we will work with you to make it happen!
