You may recall from previous posts that we have quite the view from our Birmingham Bungalow. No, we’re not set high atop a mountain that overlooks Jones Valley…not even close. Where we are situated, though, is quite endearing to our family. Here’s a brief rundown:
If you stand on our back deck and look east you can see the airport, lights and all. If you look west you can see the city skyline, the City Federal building being the easiest to spot and identify. (Obviously, the loss of foliage in winter months provides a clearer view.) Look straight ahead and you’ll also see CMC Steel, a minimill that is always sputtering and spewing and surrounded by Birmingham’s river, a myriad of railroad lines that run straight through the city and provide much entertainment for Sweet Pea. (We listen closely each day for the “Good Morning” train, the “Night-Night” train and the “Naptime” train.)
Now we have another view to enjoy that only affirms the simple grandeur of our Magic City nest… I thought it was noteworthy or, better yet, post-worthy.
Boss took to some overgrown holly bushes last week and, low and behold, now we can see Vulcan from our front yard. He’s at a distance, but it’s Vulcan, casting his own glow on our cozy bungalow. And I’m delighted…
You tell me – what else could we possibly see from this house that would make it any more Birmingham???
