tuesday tune – delicate cutters

Before I go any further, mark your calendar (and/or cancel your plans) for this Friday night.  Woodrow Hall, the illustrious venue at the heart of historic Woodlawn, will be hosting a New Album Release Party for these guys, and you don’t want to miss it.

Now, on with the post…

A few months ago, Boss and I had the chance to see Delicate Cutters open for The Low Anthem at Bottletree.  We liked ‘em.  A lot.  Then, in an interesting this-town-is-smaller-than-you-think twist of local-music-fandom-fate, I realized that Janet, the band’s lead vocalist/guitar/keyboard, is a regular at the same Monday night yoga class I love to frequent…which means when I see her I act like a nerdy, shy groupie and always stare/never speak.

Some Creatures, Delicate Cutters’ first recording for Skybucket Records, emerges as a sobering voice, calling on us to slow down, savor these moments, this music, each other…  Over the course of the thirteen tracks comprising Some Creatures, Delicate Cutters examine themes of transition, family, impermanence and loss, delivering a message rich with hope, compassion and a powerful understanding of how these shared experiences connect us with one another.

The album drops July 19th…hint, hint.  (Plug:  Support your local music stores.)

Yes, my friends, ”contemplating peace can be exhausting”, so take a break, come out to Woodrow Hall this Friday (7p.m., $5 cover), and live your life everlasting with the Delicate Cutters.
