Time out for a little plug for a cause that’s so important to families and mothers throughout this area.
You may or may not know that Certified Professional Midwives are prohibited from providing out-of-hospital maternity care in this state. (Alabama, by the way, is one of only nine states that specifically prohibit midwives.)
This Saturday morning, put on your walking shoes and join the Alabama Birth Coalition as they build awareness of their efforts to change this (unnecessary) legislation.

Birmingham’s Walk for Midwives will begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. at Rojo, located at 2921 Highland Avenue S. The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to walk a distance that is comfortable and to learn more about the issue and the Alabama Birth Coalition.

Walk on, Hannah!!!
This is such an important issue so close to so many women’s hearts. I hope that even those who do not wish for this kind of service for themselves come out and support the choice for other women to choose! Thanks!
Agreed!!! Hopefully this will build awareness and further enhance ABC’s efforts!
Thanks Magic City Manifesto for covering this issue that is so important to Alabama families!
